Sephira had to get a PKU test done today, so during her appointment she was weighed. Since her last appointment 7 days ago she has gained 11 ounces, weighing in at 10 pounds 5 ounces - an average of 1.6 ounces per day! The week prior to that it was 3 ounces a day. Either way there are no concerns about her feeding routines or weight gain. She's a happy, healthy girl!!!
Today Sephira turned 3-weeks old, perfectly coinciding with Mommy and Daddy celebrating their 3rd Anniversary! Since Effie was still recovering from being ill with Postpartum Fever, we celebrated by pulling out some old VHS tapes and relaxing together at home.
Nana Kiss and Grandpa Cliff stopped by for a short visit to cuddle and love on their sweet little Sephira...but to all of our surprise what wasn't "little" was her toot - as captured here on camera!
In the 7 days since Sephira's last checkup she put on 1 pound 3 ounces, weighing in at 9 pounds 10 ounces!! That's nearly 3 ounces a day! The nurse said Effie must be feeding her cream!
And she's gained a 1/4 inch in length too, measuring 21 inches now. She's growing so fast. Her little hands, arms and legs are starting to plump up and get chubby! It's so amazing to see the changes on a daily basis.

Wednesday evening Effie came down with a high fever of 103 which was determined to be "Postpartum Fever" caused by a possible urinary tract infection. We called the Doctor and they prescribed a 10-day dose of antibiotics over the phone, as they said there was nothing that they could do for Effie if she came in to their office.
After the experience of sponge baths, we were quite thrilled to discover that Sephira loves showers! She didn't fuss AT ALL...seemingly very happy in the warm water wrapped up in our soapy arms!
Sephira started her day out with a shower with Mom, and ended her day with a shower with Dad after having her first explosive diaper...unfortunately on Gramma Siverts lap, and lovely outfit.
After breakfast at Le Roost Lorane, and the grandparents oogling Sephira for a bit, the Siverts clan drove out to Florence, Oregon for a stroll on the beach. It was perfect weather. Warm air with a gentle breeze - not even strong enough to fly a kite.
At a week and a half old we're starting to get out of the house more...and today's trek was out to Nana Kiss and Grandpa Cliff's house, Le Roost Lorane, in Lorane, Oregon. We piled in the car and drove out for dinner and an overnight stay at the former B&B.
