Shiver me timbers! It's Captain Sephira No Beard with her cannons booming!
Mommy had some friends over for lunch, so Sephira got all dressed up for the afternoon. Look how pretty she is! Still warm enough for a summer dress, but cool enough for leggings at the same time. Every day we're getting closer to seeing her "social smile". Soon we'll be able to photograph it!
During Grandpa and Gramma Siverts visit we celebrated Dirk's birthday out at our favorite sushi restaurant, the Sushi Station, ...then again last night dinning in with dinner (Thai takeout) and a movie (The Forbidden Kingdom) with Grandpa Cliff and Nana Kiss.
We can't believe it!! It just seems like yesterday we were going in to labor...and now our daughter is one month old! How does time fly so fast!?
Over the past few days Sephira has become more visually engaging, and also seems to be focusing on objects at further distances. Since birth she has had very strong neck and back muscles, and is able to bust out of a swaddle like Wonder Woman. We've recently started using a Kiddopotamus swaddler that closely resembles a straight jacket, but it seems to do the trick and we are now getting 3-4 hours of sleep at night (in a single stretch!). Today she also rolled herself over from her back to her side. She has yet to smile directly at us when we talk and sing to her, but she smiles a lot during sleep. We have lost ourselves completely to her sweet and mesmerizing beauty.
Sephira had to get a PKU test done today, so during her appointment she was weighed. Since her last appointment 7 days ago she has gained 11 ounces, weighing in at 10 pounds 5 ounces - an average of 1.6 ounces per day! The week prior to that it was 3 ounces a day. Either way there are no concerns about her feeding routines or weight gain. She's a happy, healthy girl!!!
